What can scientist do?...........?

That is the weakness of our society. Way before the scientifically dominant society, people were very tightly controlled by churches as you would have known, thus churches prevented everything that can possibly take people away from them. As time goes on, people in the churches knew they could not stop the pace of science, thus the whole western world experienced POLITICAL REFORMATION DRIVEN BY THE SCIENTIFIC PROGRESS AND RESINOUS RESISTING FROM THE CHURCHES.Since then, the religious thoughts never stop obsessing people, the great scientists were dead from pursuing the religious wisdom, such as Newton, Maupertuis. In the west, what prevent people to have a absolutely scientific world is actually our religion, rather than lacking of capacities from other parts of the world. In conjunction of the religion, the political reasons can also help block the way of doing science, such as Culture Revolution in the 1960 and 70's China, due to the explicitness of science. Remember, a great scientist can be dominant in several centuries, but can not control a country because they do not understand how to make people believe them without a matter of fact like a literary man does through histories. What scientists can do is simply stick up.
