What is your concept of 1 John 4:1-3

He wants us to be aware of false prophets and not believe everything we hear. Research the source and compare it to the sound doctrine. If you get told a teacher, challenge them, if by a spirit, challenge them. By the truth that Christ came in the flesh, taught the living word, died for our sins, and came back from the dead is the proper response to know if they are indeed a source to be trusted. They must also acknowledge that He is indeed the lord and savior of all.
