What is used to media blast a car, and also can I use the same material in a regular sandblaster?

I have a few spots paint spots in tight areas on my corvette that I need to strip. I figured the best way to do it is to media blast it because thats what foose did on overhaulin =). I have a nice sandblaster but I never knew if I could just put media material and blast it with that or would I need a media blaster. Also what is the material called that they use to blast cars with. It's a fibergl body so I believe sand would be extreme.
