Eddie Van Halen Trademark Infringements?

So most people know Mr. Van Halen has his famous red/white/black stripes trademarked and he enforces said trademark (He sued Nike for shoes that had a similar design on their mid soles.) Now I was looking at how much Frankenstrat replicas go for ($25,000 USD btw) and I thought that was a bit steep... So I thought, hey, why don't I just spray paint those stripes on a Dean ML (the guitar I prefer to play anyways)... How similar do the stripes have to be to be at risk to be sued by Eddie's company? Any idea of how close I can get would be extremely helpful... Thanks
