What's wrong with my computer, is it time for a new one?

well this happened to us recently that the PC stopped recognizing that it was plugged in and we found out the cord is really sensitive and only work's at certain angles. Also over time the battery goes bad so it doesn't hold a charge for long, also your pc seems to be over heating so i would get a chill mat or something with a fan...or getting a new laptop isn't a bad idea...
